Families first coronavirus response act. As businesses reopen and employees return to work, we have seen an increase of the coronavirus affecting more employers. The FFCRA mandates paid sick leave and family leave for businesses with 500 employees or less. There is no cost to the employer share of the Social Security and medicare taxes re fully reimbursed to the employer. Under the FFCRA empoyees are eligible for up to 2 weeks of sick pay due to the coronavirus or up to 10 weeks of family leave pay if the employer share of the Social Security and Medicare taxes are fully reimbursed to the employer. The amount of pay for the sick leave depends on the reason for the leave. The maximum benefit under the mandated sick leave is 10 days of pay. The mandated paid family leave is solely for the care of a child whose school or child care provider is closed or unavailable for reasons related to Covide-19 and the employee is unable to work or telework. Reasons for leave and duration of leave. Reason one. Subject to federal, state, or local quarantine or isolation due to COVID-19. Duration: Full time employee is eligible for up to 80 hours of leave, and a part time employee is eligible for the number of hours of leave that the employee works on average over a two week period. Reason two: advised by a health care provider to self-quarantine related to COVID-19.
